The Red Jacket · Launch
May 1966. She meets the water.
Lifted out of the shop, walked to the waterfront, lowered into Lake Ontario in front of a small crowd that knew what they were watching.
Launch day at a custom yard is the quietest, most-watched moment in the build. Twelve months of layup, fairing, fit-out, and finishing distill into a few minutes of crane work and held breath. For Red Jacket the moment carried more weight than usual — she was not just a new boat. She was a new method.
Within weeks she was sailing. Within a month she was winning.
